There is a SCAR workshop for History and Social Science in Colorado from 20-23 May 2105. We discuss concepts of wilderness in the Antarctic. The start was a hike to the Rocky Mountains National Park to experience wilderness – sort of.
Today we discussed themes such as: Narratives and Counter Narratives from Antarctica, Histories of Antarctic Science, Methodologies and Approaches in Antarctic Studies, Geopolitics and the Environment and Wilderness in a Time of Increasing Antarctic Nationalism.
Tomorrow we head of to Boulder and continue with presentations on National Perspectives on Antarctic Science and the Environment. Some of the sessions are open to the wider public.
